Port Management System

Client & Business Case:
The client is a leading provider of innovative solutions to meet today’s for communication needs in cities, public transportation, sports and leisure facilities and on mountain slopes. They are commercially active in more than 20 countries across 5 continents. To broaden their solution offerings in the transportation domain the client needed a Port Management System in their portfolio.

Chimera designed, developed and implemented a Port Management System in the Port of Calais. The key to the solution was to develop a user interface using Flex which delivers a Rich User Experience through intuitive interaction with the application, presenting information in a visually rich interface. The allocations of ferries were facilitated through Gantt chart. The port officers were provided with drag drop facility, making ferry platform management simple and intuitive. The interface was mobile friendly, to boot. One of key benefits was that the manual process of allocating platforms for the ferries was automated. The system also digitized the port officers’ task of manually allocating parking for visitors, eliminating paperwork and chances of human error.
