The Need :
The need was to create two kiosks, one that could be used by the patient and the other to be used by the doctor. The patient kiosk would have multiple measurement devices. The kiosk application is supposed to help the patient take several measurements before connecting to a doctor. The doctor and the patient is supposed to talk via a video conference after which the doctor would prescribe the medication that the patient could pay and print it.
The Solution :
A special purpose kiosk with all the necessary hardware's connected was created. A rich user interface in flash was created. The interface used a middle tier .Net application to interact with the peripheral devices. Integrations to several devices include weighing scale, a blood pressure device, SPO2 device, relays and video cameras. The interface would guide the patient through several steps during which measurements are taken. The doctor then comes live on the patients screen and vice versa creating a Tele-presence kiosk. The software also enables the doctor to remotely manage some of the devices used by the patient. The system also integrates with a payment gateway.
