Remember the mind-blowing AI in the “Person of Interest” web series? It was my first fascination with AI and this was back in 2015 around the same time OpenAI and TensorFlow emerged. Well, the AI revolution is here, and it’s called Generative AI (GenAI). Chatbots whizzing by, self-driving cars taking the wheel, and GenAI… it’s everywhere, and the buzz is electric.
If you are a salesperson, you’re probably wondering how this AI magic applies to your world. Personalized outreach? Data-driven insights? Content creation on autopilot? Yes, please! But amidst the excitement, a niggling question arises: could GenAI replace the human salesperson?
I believe GenAI isn’t here to steal your job; it can be your ultimate wingman. Imagine the “Machine in Person of Interest” awe applied to GenAI:
- Personalized content:Salesforce Einstein GPT tailors content to individual needs.
- Content creation:Platforms like Jasper generate compelling sales materials.
- Social media:Outreach and Jasper craft targeted social media messages.
- Outreach automation:Chorus .ai handles repetitive outreach tasks.
But GenAI doesn’t stop there. It’s your secret sales coach. Analyze your calls, pinpoint areas for improvement, and offer real-time feedback. Imagine having an AI-powered research assistant, digging up competitive intel before you even step into a meeting.
In my opinion, if a company is not doing all these, I believe they are missing out on a good amount of business. I strongly believe that these tools have to be explored based on your business to see how to increase to aid your business pipeline. Yes, you read it right, aid is the word. That’s pretty much what it can do, it can aid but can not sustain a business and very simply put below are some of the reasons.
Your intuition, the ability to connect on a personal level, and the magic of building trust. GenAI amplifies these, not replaces them.
You might wonder: why need salespeople? Why not just one person to manage the “engine”? It works, and GenAI can generate a decent pipeline. But here’s the catch:
- Emotions:We may love the “Machine” in Person of Interest, but true emotional intelligence is still elusive.
- Real conversation:Chatbots can respond to queries, but can they hold a meaningful conversation?
- Relationships:Automation doesn’t build relationships. Connecting with individuals on a deeper level is key.
- Intuition:Knowing what to say and how.
- Negotiation:Well, that’s a whole other ball game!
Sales is an art. It’s about connecting, and evolving beyond automation and generic emails. You have seconds to make an impression, and unless you connect on a deeper level, the battle is lost.
GenAI can empower you like never before. It can make your job easier and more effective, but it can’t replace the human touch. GenAI is your arsenal to become a better salesperson, not a replacement. Embrace its strengths, recognize your own, and together, you’ll conquer the sales frontier.
Remember, the future is not about machines replacing humans; it’s about humans and machines working together to achieve greatness.
