Client:

One of the leading HR tech player in Singapore. The client has been providing a unique ATS to leading organizations in Singapore for over a decade. The existing ATS has won several awards and is well recognized in the industry.

 

Challenge:

With an established customer base of large clientele, the product was losing out on the SME market. A lightweight SAAS based cloud-hosted application would address this untapped market. A potential client was waiting, and a new team had to take up the legacy and turnaround a modern application with all the characteristics of the proven application.

 

Our Strategy:

When the need was to develop a new version of an established product quickly, the product knowledge became crucial and with it’s the lessons learnt. While we bring in the technical know-how, the functional gap was too broad. The client was evaluating various outsourcing options. The need was to build trust quickly.

 

Our Solution:

Understanding of the existing application was the key, functionally and technically. Outsourcing adds up to this complexity. Our solution was to look at a quick requirement elicitation workshop. This workshop had to establish the trust that we understand the specs clearly and hence providing a realistic estimate. And thus an onsite one week workshop with a plan to cover various areas of this undocumented product was undertaken. The result was a document that the customer could use it to request for bids. However, the Stockholm effect took over ending up with a contract being awarded. The second phase was to ramp up a team and provide early deliverables quickly. With our internal lean development approach and senior developers, this was a breeze.

 

During the initial product development phase, the offshore team gathered the necessary know-how on the technology and product that to date, they continue as an offshore team for the customer.

 

Business Outcome:

  • The client now has a fully functional version of a cloud enabled product that they could showcase to their prospects on time.
  • The investors were thrilled to see the turnaround as the product met the market release dates.
  • The product had on-boarded new customers in less than a month of its release.
